reference level

The reference level indicates the way an instance is referred to. Instances can be referenced directly as values, but also as pointers or by reference. Pointer references are possible on different levels (1, 2 3,...). Specific reference types are database links or persistent references, which allow referring to instance collections within the database and generic attributes.
