Shared collections are collections that can be updated asynchronously by different applications. Usually, updating a collection may cause locking problems, since one or more collection indexes might be locked in a transactions, which permits other applications to update the same collection. Shared collections provide a key lock feature, which allows parallel updates on collection indexes.
