Simple versioning

Simple versioning creates new database entry versions depending on versioning consistency versioning scope feature. Simple versioning cannot be defined explicitly, but is assumed for each versioning mode, that does not include managed versioning.

In case of simple versioning up to 4294967295 versions may be created. In this case, major versions are not created, but the two high order bytes of the version number are formally interpreted as major version. The behavior of simple versioning depends on versioning scope and is described in "Versioning scopes".
