Content Based Database Access

Content based access uses access to database extents (collections) ans selecting instances via key values or positions, Extents are organized in object spaces, where each object space has its own set of extents according to the common schema definitions.

Since the database is an object space by definition, it is not necessary, but possible, to define further object spaces below the database object space. Object spaces own a number of extents (collections), that support access to single object instances via index (position) or key value. An instance may be the owner of collections (references, relationships), which, again, allow accessing single instances by position or key.

The content based access finally leads to an LOID, which is used then to provide the data.
