GUID
The global unique identifier is a 40 character string (internally stored as 16 byte value), which uniquely identifies an instance in the world. In contrast to the LOID, which is a local unique identifier, the GUID keeps its value also when being copied to another database.
Generalisations: instance identifier, data reference
