object space

An object space defines a separate data area not based on a schema definition. An object space is an unstructured instance with its own extents. Object spaces may form hierarchies. Within an object space hierarchy, instances can be overloaded.

Each database consists of at least one object space, which is the root object space. All other object spaces are subordinated to the root object space or to subordinated object spaces. Thus, a database consists of an object space tree with the root object space on top. Each object space, except the root object space has got exactly one object space parent.

Object spaces may get names, which can be used, for accessing them.
